Malaysian Electronics and Chip Makers Face High Haze-Related Costs
August 19, 2005
According to the FMM (Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers), electronics and semiconductor factories in Malaysia might soon be starting to encounter added production costs due to the haze, as filters in clean rooms, which set strict limits for the amount of air particles, need to be changed daily in the current situation instead of once a year when there is no haze. Manufacturers are also facing other haze-related costs such as medical treatment of workers and costs related to productivity loss as workers are unable to get to work in the current weather conditions.
